How do you adjust your serotonin levels while taking effexor and make weight lose possible?
The equivalent to adjusting serotonin levels (it’s more complicated than that) is accomplished by dose level. It takes 2-6 weeks for the med to start working. Talk to your doc after that if you’re still feeling down as you may need a higher dose.
Some ppl loose weight on Effexor. Some gain weight. Some have no change. How you respond won’t be known until you are on it for a while. Unless you are underweight, it’s best to plan on some light dieting until you know weight gain won’t be a problem.
Btw, if you’ve never been on an antidepressant before, go back to your doctor and ask for something else. Effexor is pretty hard core, and it come with nasty withdrawals.

first off I suggest getting switched to another med…effexor is the worst thing you can take….when you no longer need it, it is incredibley hard to get off of….AD’s don’t adjust your serotonin level, they just block receptors so that the serotonin your body produces stays in your system longer….if you want to lose weight, just exercise regularly and eat healthy…best of luck to you and God bless…..
