So how much cardio …
So how much cardio do you need for losing fat without having a negative effect on building muscle?
Recent studies have shown that as little as 15 to 20 minutes of cardio 3 to 4 times a week is sufficient at losing body fat and keeping the fat off for good. However, the cardio you perform should be at a very intense level, meaning for the duration of the 15 minutes you are working very hard with no pausing to rest.

cardio doesn’t …
cardio doesn’t maintain muscle, it just burns calories. can’t you just eat less if you want a larger calorie deficit?

no the muscle will …
no the muscle will aid in calorie burning if you have hit a plateau with your weight loss you can manipulate one of the factors i.e. lower calorie intake, increase calorie expenditure or both and make sure you do not go on a crash diet or you will slow down your metabolism just spread out your food intake to 6 meals and never feel hungry just quality food no processed crap that way your metabolism will be at it’s max all the time.

just to clarify an …
just to clarify an untrained out of shape adult will benefit more in the long run by adopting a bodybuilding style of muscle building fat loss regime due tio the added muscle and the benefits that come along with that but in the short term fat loss for a moderately trained adult adding significant cardio to your workout regime will see more fat loss faster due to the intensity and unlimited potential for gym time, bodybuilding requires frequent rest to allow for muscle growth between workouts.

My human movement …
My human movement professors stipulate the exact opposite.
If a one hour cardio session burns 600 callories, and a weights sessions 400, then the weight session is the superior workout, as the extra muscle gained in burning fat at rest *24* hours a day, and not just the couple of hours after cardio.

what if i wanted to …
what if i wanted to get to a desired weight, and i now do cardio and a little bit of weight lifting. would the weight lifting stop me from losing fat because of the muscle gain?

Only thing you …
Only thing you proven is that you are ignorant. Hiit is vastly superior to straight tredmill and if you dont do some weight training with cardio you will look bad still i.e loose skin and stretch marks. So lugger go be a fat idiot somewhere else moron.

Lockdotz, you …
Lockdotz, you hillbilly retard. The only thing you’ve proven is your poor English skills. You ain’t gonna do nothing, but sit behind your computer get berated (look up word if needed). Go talk tough somewhere else.
As per the topic at hand, if you can’t stand the treadmill, stationary bikes, etc, you can always turn your weight lifting routine into semi cardio, by losing the rest time in between sets (obviously reducing weight and increasing reps).

Last but not least: …
Last but not least: when going for cardio it will help you if you pick an exercise that you do because you like it and not simply because you must. A sport like swimming, playing tennis, cycling etc can very well be the cardio alternative you need and you enjoy doing (instead of running like a hamster on a boring treadmill)

Something that …
Something that everybody should consider when training with weights: compared to cardio weightlifting builds muscle mass which may result in gaining weight overall instead of losing. BUT your scale tells only half of the story: what you should be focusing is NOT losing weight but losing fat.
And of course as many have noted before me combining cardio + weightlifting is the best way to achieve a healthy, muscular and fat free body.

There is a YouTube …
There is a YouTube video titled “Cardio-Free Diet” which says you don’t need to do aerobic exercise to lose weight. Fat is burned all day and night by muscle mass so all you need to do is weight training. He cites a study where women actually gained one pound by doing 45 minutes of treadmill 5 times a week for 16 months.

I did weight …
I did weight training for 3 months, I put on weight and my clothes got to tight, at that time i weighed 162Ibs. I quit weights and focused on cardio instead. I have being doing jumping jacks for 12 weeks and have lost 10Ibs. I’ll stick to cardio instead, results are much quicker for weight loss than weights.

I weight lift 10 sets with diff muscle groups and 40 min cardio everyday.I was wondering if I should weight lift before or after cardio for a better chance of losing more weight.

I always thought …
I always thought that lifting weight with great intensity burns more calories than cardio because it keeps your body burning calories when it is repairing your muscles for at least 48 hours after you workout… Also I thought that anaerobic training is better for your heart and lungs just because it pushes them to the limit, and forces them to increase their capacities.
